Well, there are two reasons really.
One is the old developer's acronym "GIGO" In which stands for garbage in equals garbage out. That is fairly self-explanatory, but how it happens is that people creating these products jam in all the old headlines they can find and then write some code to combine them into 1000s of permutations.
